Kylay - I think that might be the way to go. Although would the elite clubs want to leave their domestic competitions?

Would work for me though, they can all fuck off to make their billions and sell their shirts and leave the rest of us to get on with some competitive football.

Re: Tuesday's football
Sven - Yep, I think a wage cap would be the only way to get things back to even approaching an even keel. I just cant see how they would ever enforce it, with EU labour laws and legal challenges bound to attack any plans along those lines.

Worth a go though, but doubt the elite clubs would agree.

Re: Tuesday's football
makes you wonder if they will try to cement a permanent champions league. It would likely make the domestic leagues a bit more competitive and interesting.

Paper tried to make a big thing of 7 of the Chelsea youth team who won in the cup last night being English, but I bet they raped other clubs for all of them.

I agree and this FFP is only there to pull up the ladder behind the current big clubs.
There should be a maximum salary amount across all clubs of say £100m and no club should be allowed to have more than 30 players over 18 contracted at any one point. Chelsea probably have that many out on loan.

Realistically though as only a certain number of teams compete its going to be the 'same old'.

Saying that, no one has won it back to back since it became the CL.

spot on baggins, especially the bit about hoarding the best youngsters. you couldn't pay me to return to following us on a regular basis. I got out just at the right time and now prefer to be an armchair fan

Re: Tuesday's football
Sven - Im just talking generally.

We all know who will be in the semi finals. We all know who will finish top six in our division. While some of the football played by these clubs is great to watch, Im finding the lack of competitiveness is beginning to get a bit boring. From the hoarding of hundreds of the best young players to the amount spent on wages, those outside the elite just cannot compete.

I find Champions League a bit boring. The football is fantastic but sport isn't fun when it's a foregone conclusion. give me live theatre and improv any day, even if it's just a pub league

Re: Tuesday's football
Lack of money isn't the excuse of Chelsea and Man City

I think Real might get a surprise tomorrow in maybe a 1-1

Baggins 10:05 Tue Apr 21
Re: Tuesday's football
So the semi finalists will be Bayern, Barca and probably Real. Again.

The Champions League is becoming about as competitive as the Premier League. Same old clubs winning again and again. Not sure what can be done about it but money is ruining the fun at the highest level.
